My Aunt Jo and Aunt Nancy came to visit for the day to celebrate my cousin Joel's birthday. 

It was such a treat having my Mississippi family over!

We went just around the corner to watch Birmingham's St. Patrick's Day Parade.



We dined on pizza at Mellow Mushroom after the parade.

Here's what we've been up to...  

Bill and Polly have been doing a lot of sleeping.
During the day.  Not at night.
At night it sounds like we have two mini horses locked in our spare bedroom.

Bill loves looking out all of the windows.
Polly could care less, she's like her mom.  We're generally not much for the outdoors.

Bill loves treats.
Who am I kidding?  They all do.



Polly loves watching television.



Hubs and  I have been getting more acquainted with our new kitchen.

What better way to cook than with a matching apron and chef hat?
Ohmygosh, he's so cute.

This particular evening we made Emeril's shrimp po-boys and red beans and rice.
THIS is a great recipe - be sure to make the cajun seasoning.

We've been spending a lot of time with our fun family.

We went to see our nephew play soccer.

We took a trip to Mississippi for Thanksgiving!
We were able to spend time with my grandmother, Uncle Bill, Aunt Jo, Aunt Nancy, Uncle Mike and my cousins Loren, Brandon, Hadley, Joel, Jenni and Jaycee.
It's never enough time, but it sure was a wonderful time.

Hubs has been refurbishing this built in hutch in our home and finished it.
It looks amazing!

We've had family and friends over to watch football.

My sweet old puppy dog has been busy doing what he does best:
wanting lots of attention and food.

Last weekend my mom went with us to visit family in Mississippi and had a super duper fun time.  

As usual, I should have taken more pictures.  

(excuse me while I blame shift this!)

It was just too hot to take pictures and had nothing to do with the fact that I was too focused on good conversation and cute shoes in the windows of Oxford's stores.    

We met my Uncle Bill, Aunt Jo, and Aunt Nancy then went to see Loren and Brandon's sweet baby and their first home in Water Valley.

We had lunch in Oxford at Old Venice Pizza then did a little shopping.  It was Oxford's birthday so there were fun little sidewalk sales in front of some stores.  Oxford is just beautiful!

She's so pretty.  I have the best momma ever.

Hubby was able to see the Ole Miss campus for the first time.  He really enjoyed it!

Then we went to my grandmother's house in Dumas for a magnificent dinner and a little quality time with my cousin Jonathan who is leaving to go live overseas with his family in a couple of months.

Lots of special memories made!  

I always have the best time when we visit!  My aunts are so funny and in their different ways, much like my mom.  I usually spend a lot of time laughing, which is alright by me.  Mostly though, I enjoy spending time with my mom and seeing her so happy around her family.  

Back here in Alabama...

I made turkey/tomato/arugula/avacado/cream cheese whole wheat wraps.  They were yummy and easy.  As a side I made sweet potato chips.  They were yummy and not so easy.  

Note to self:  buy a slicer!

Hubs had pretty pink roses waiting on me when I walked in from the office Monday.  I may have said this a time or two before, but I'm absolutely in love with that sweet man of mine!

We spent July 4th at our pool soaking in the sun and chatting with each other.  It was SO relaxing!  

We ordered a pizza after and crashed!  

Polly loves watching tv and surfing the web.  She's a nut!

My mom and I did a little shopping this week...

and she got her ears pierced!  I just got mine done last November and since then she has talked about wanting to get hers done.  Go mom!

The Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan is sold in stores here and his made in Kiln, MS.  No, I don't like it just because it's from MS.  It truly is delicious with a hint of pecan!

Abita Strawberry is new this year and is divine.  Not sweet.  Not sour.  Simply divine!  

Wowza.

This was a long post.  

We're off to the lake tomorrow with family.  Hopefully I'll take some pictures as proof!
